Honouring Mark John Gearing

It is with deep sadness and tender hearts that we announce the passing of Mark John Gearing.

Mark passed on February 28th, surrounded by loved ones.

In July of 2025, Mark was diagnosed with cancer. He never said he had cancer, only that he was healing from cancer. He kept this information mostly private as he focused on healing. After 7 months of intensive treatment, a deep focus on his health and so much courage and bravery, it seems his Soul had a different path and he left his body, departing this life.

There has been an outpouring of love for Mark from all over the World. Thank you to everyone who has been sharing love, prayers, stories, photos and memories of their time with Mark.

Mark was born in Brisbane, Australia, in July 1974. From a very young age, he became interested in Eastern Culture and Spiritual Philosophies. Mark is a practicing Tibetan Buddhist and a student of Kyudo ("The Way of the Bow") a Japanese martial art focused on archery, mental discipline and spiritual development.

Mark is a world-recognized Chinese Medicine Practitioner and Teacher with over 30 years of experience and training. In 2023, Mark was awarded the title “Doctor of Jing Fang” (经方医师) through the Nanjing International Jing Fang Research Institute.

During Mark’s doctoral studies under the supervision of his beloved teacher Dr. Huang Huang, he chose as his topic “The Wuling Powder Pattern and Pituitary Tumors,” arguing from both literature and clinical perspectives for their similarities and proposing the hypothesis that pituitary tumors could be treated with Wuling Powder. Dr. Huang stated recently, “This aligns entirely with clinical reality—I myself have several successful cases.” Included below is Dr. Huang Huang’s honoring of Mark for you to read.

Mark dedicated his life to assisting others. He has helped many people both as a practitioner and as a teacher of Chinese Medicine.

Mark is known for his kindness, compassion, laughter, wisdom, generosity, brilliance, playful nature, desire to help others and his deeply loving Soul.

May Mark’s Spirit live on within our hearts and inspire us to be in service to the greater good, as Mark demonstrated during this life.

Mark’s Service and Life Celebration will be held on Tuesday, March 17th at 10 am (QLD Australian Time).
